Should 7 week old chicks be establishing the peck order already? Just wondering.

Where did you get them from? What breeds(s)? If you post pictures I can help you sex them.

Mine started a little earlier in the pecking order thing. But I only have one rooster. And they are 11 weeks old now and still challenging each other . The cockerel breaks up some of it but then if one’s is running in his direction he gets all defensive and acts like they are coming at him, even though they aren’t. It’s cute to watch really.

My 2-week old chicks are doing this kangaroo fighting thing, stretching their necks and look like they are trying to 1-up each other. Is this the starting of establishing pecking order?
Are they trying to see who can box the quickest, who is the tallest neck stretcher, or who can jump the highest? haha!
Anyway, is this the same behavior yall are talking about? at 2 weeks old though?

Play fighting, as well as a bit of practice with pecking order.
