Chicks first outing

We just put our month old chicks out in the yard in a pen for the first time. They seem to be enjoying picking and scratching around in the grass. Is it okay to sprinkle some feed out in the grass for them to eat on their first outdoor experience?

I love the first day outside, it's so exciting.

Won't hurt a thing, but why not let them just eat what they find, bugs, worms, anything that moves. They will do fine.

If when spring has finally sprung you can find a couple of crickets or a bug or two throw that in the pen with them. Let the games begin.
