Chicks for Christmas ! Submit your holiday chick pictures contest on!

Cynthia12: the fudge was not my recipe, but I did throw some together today. I would suggest using a whole 12 oz bag of chips (mini chips melt faster). Mine is still setting up, but the spoon test was a unanimous 'woo hoo!'. From DH and DD #3.

I have to share! I saw..for the first time after all this time/years of hatching, the heart beating!!

I've heard of others seeing it, I just haven't been lucky enough until now. It was great..and it beats fast!
So, I am still at 13 out of 13 eggs doing very well. Man, if I get a 100% hatch, that will be a first in a long time, for shipped eggs!
Lock down is on Wed.

Ok, here is my best guess for hatches. I am guessing 188 will hatch on Christmas Eve, and 350 on Christmas day.

We are getting so excited about our chicks hatching.

We candled last night, and they are still going strong. My daughter got so excited, and she wanted to candle them again today.

Last year she distanced herself from the hatching process because she had a hard time dealing with the lower hatch rates of shipped eggs. She couldn't bear to pull out the clears, I had to do it when she wasn't home. She is so excited by this batch of eggs, she has really taken ownership of the hatching process this time.

I am really proud of her. I can't wait until these babies pop out! It's getting so close now.

Wow! Lockdown Wednesday?!? We just got the tree up and I need to decorate it. Not to mention, finish shopping and wrapping! I think I need elves.:-D

sorry all I have been busy and hadnt had a chance to get back on. Use just a regular can of icing and a 12 oz bag of chips. Whatever flavor you want. Be creative. And let me know if you do and what kind of combos you used. The guy also told me you could layer it but I havent figured that one out yet. Maybe do one flavor then melt another and pour it on top?

Sheila, I tried it, took some to a Chistmas party last night and it was magnificent (and easy)!

Still not done shopping or wrapping here. 12 yr old is done school till after the holidays and he's my snooper, so this should be interesting..

Of 23 eggs set in incubator 9 were fertile. Of the 9, 4 hatched last night and 2 are trying. So far its 3 RIRs and 1 Arraconna. Kids are all very excited. Hope to have something to compete w/ video games on Christmas ;-)

And, congrats! I love the RIR's..you will get some fine eggs if you get some pullets. Enjoy those babies! Maybe some pictures would be good, if you have the min..to post..pretty busy time..it will get us even more excited for our babies that are coming along. This last little bit of waiting..then peering into the bator while they are in lock down, then waiting after that first pip!
