Chicks for Christmas ! Submit your holiday chick pictures contest on!

Okay - she's been in the 'bator for about an hour now, and the little red sac is getting bigger. Do I need to be worried? Here's a pic I just took a couple minutes ago.

Get her up off of the wire. I would put a tea cup in there and put her in it so it doesn't snag on the wire. Give her some time to rest in there. If you don't have a stable tea cup use a coffee cup

I now have 5 externally pipped but none zipped just yet! I am hoping at least 1 is born by morning. My husband doesnt think I will sleep tonight!

For sure get her up off the wire & in a small enough container to keep her from doing much activity wise. It looks like yolk but COULD be intestines. I had to cull my 1st turkey poult because of something similar, but he was very obviously in pain and it was getting bigger vs reducing like yolk should do. Keep the chick as calm as possible.

My three sweet babies!!! These are from our rooster Marylou, a Buckeye, and any of our hens...barred rock, white rock, black sex link, wyandotte gold laced...

The one in the middle was the first to hatch and I'm pretty sure she was from a pullet's first egg (tiny itty bitty egg that I popped in the bator kinda as an experiment to see if that little egg might possible grow anything). The middle one in particular is super sweet.

I also upped my still air temp from 99.5 to 100-100.5 for this hatch and instead of hatching on day 22-23 this one was day 20!

My little chick that pipped at the wrong end, we had to help. She had her legs in a wierd position. Finally got her out, but now she acts very weak. She is cheeping but not moving much. I hope she regains her strength and is ok. We will just have to wait and see. I have 2 more pips but they are pipped on the right end so I am sure they are fine. 6 more to go.

Yes, that little one needs to be separated from any others that hatch, or are hatched. And, up off the wire and in something comfy cozy for her like Melissa suggested. Keep her in the bator as it is humid. Needs to stay moist.
