Chicks for Christmas ! Submit your holiday chick pictures contest on!

I woke up this morning to 5 more chicks, 11 total. Number 12 is out and fluffed and 13 and 14 are on the way. None of mine count as they were all late. So far I have 7 RIRs from 202roosterlane, and 5 of my EE/mutts...(I have 2 BR, 2 RIRs, and 9 EE hens with a NHR roo). These chicks are huge compared to the RIRs. I am hoping to get a pic of all the fluffed ones when these last 2 get out, if no more are pipping. I almost shrink wrapped one when my humidity pump hose got kinked. Luckily, I noticed it soon enough to remedy the situation and chick made it out fine. Out of 24 originally set, I feel like we have done pretty well.

Go chicks! I am getting ready to lockdown for new years chicks! Started building the grow out pen in the barn. Removed another load of debris from the floor. The frame is built except the two 2x4s for the top, which I painted. Any body else doing construction? :)

Yes! Having banty chicks in the coop is not working for me so DBF is busy converting a roadside-find dresser into a broody box for Holly and the Carols.
Currently theyr'e in the nest box.

We have a new small coop a friend gave us recently, but we still need to build a pen for it. It is going to be the breeding pen for the bantam cochins and a grow out pen for peeps until they can be integrated with the mature flock. We are only doing 2 breeds to minimize how many pens we need. I don't want to wear out my husbands patience with to many chicken projects.

I'm adding a patio to my PartyShack and Run so the chicklets have a place to get out of the rain when they are free ranging

We have some clear sunny weather for the next few days so I should get a lot done. I also want to put some of the polycarbonate sheathing on the top of the run to keep it dry during the rainey spells. Hey Deb I'm going to need some eggs for the Valentines hatch and I would love some more of the polish and another assortmentment to go with them Probably three dozen would be good

Oh my goodness, not only do I love your mama and baby picture, but had to run and get DH to see that he isn't the only loving DH that makes things right for my chickens..a coop, a nursery hutch, and a broody pen. We are blessed!
Wait...what is DBF? lol...I just know, that I have a great DH!! lol... Is it Dear Boy Friend? Just guessing..anyway, you are blessed as well. Good to have a man around that knows how to make things. I could help, if I could. I just had my neck fused, been having pain all summer long, so can't do much, the docs say take it easy..soft bones!

Another DH! That is so cool. You are lucky to have the land to put that many chicks on..and to expand. Love how your are doing the expansion. And, waaay cute babies!

Oh man, I can relate to those late quitters. It's so disappointing when that happens. You just never know. I had 4 this time out. Then, had two not make it. That's unusual for me. Not sure what happened there. At least we got some babies, right?
