so I’m not complaining but need advice. I have eggs hatch at 19 days every hatch. I know that incubator is supposed to go on lock down for 3 days and you shouldn’t open the incubator during hatching however, from what I have read they can hatch 1-2 days after hatch day. Would t that leave the chicks who hatch early in too long?
This time I added extra warm water and took the fluffy ones out but wondered if anyone else had this issue and what they do.

When mine hatch early I wait until they are up and moving around a little, then I move them to the brooder. Don't worry about open the incubator to do this, it won't hurt your unhatched eggs, and it's better to get hatching chicks eating and drinking as soon as possible.

I always move my eggs to a new position in the bator daily to combat uneven temperatures even in my forced air bator. This has majorly impacted my hatch frame and brought it tighter.

Yes I will remove (very) early hatchers once fluffy, draping a blanket or towel around the bator and over my arms to retain my temp and humidity.

Some people have lines that specifically do hatch early even if it isn't common for the breed. Have you noticed if it is from certain hens that the eggs are hatching early Or have you noticed them being positional in bator as I mentioned at all?

Pics always welcome. ;)

Happy hatching! :fl:jumpy:jumpy

What type of incubator do you have? Still air or Circulated Air? What is the temperature? What breeds are you hatching?

All of these can effect on when the chicks hatch.

I have a hovabator 1620N with fan kit. Black australops, Easter Eggers and americaunas

Seemed like a lot of brown ones hatched earlier than the black and grey ones. I’m still trying to figure out who is coming from what egg lol I’ll post pics

With them hatching early and the last ones hatching yesterday or during the night, how long would you wait before turning off the incubator (never had luck candling). Hatch day was Friday
