Chicks hating bedding

Ah they do that at that age, they are practicing doing what chickens do best

How old are they?

They may be too hot. Can you move the lamp to one end so that you have a warm spot and a cooler area?

This is exactly what I was going to suggest.
Move the lamp to on side so it almost covers a spot of the cage. Then it acts like a hen, whenever they get cold they can go under the light for warmth

I’ve moved it they still kick bedding out I think it’s just one the scratch instinct and two them fighting/playing trying their wings. They are almost 5 weeks their feathers are coming in they still have some bald spots

At 5 weeks most breeds will be entirely or almost entirely off heat -- fully-feathered and ready for the outdoors.
