I am new to raising chickens and I had our chicks’ brooder in the utility room of our house. I read somewhere that you shouldn’t have your chicks in the house because breathing in the dust from their brooder can be dangerous. They are now outside and I actually moved their brooder outside for the last couple weeks before they were old enough to move to their coop/run. But I have anxiety and now I’m nervous that I had them in the house for like 4 weeks :’) it should be fine, right?? We cleaned it pretty much daily and when we did, we took it outside to clean. I don’t really recall ever having to clean too much dust out of the utility room. Help calm my anxiety please!!!

You're okay! Cleaning the brooder outside certainly reduced the amount of dander you were exposed to. Yes, chicks have quite a bit of dander that isn't great to inhale, but having the brooder inside for a few weeks won't be a problem for most people with sufficient ventilation and cleaning.

I usually hatch chicks weekly for at least 6 months of the year. They stay in my room until the next batch hatch then they're rotated.
Nothing wrong with me.
Could there be an issue? Sure I guess but now days it seems like someone somewhere will find issues with everything. Search for a minute and you'll find how unhealthy it is to even own chickens.

I've raised 4 generations of chicks inside without problems.

It has the additional benefits that you can keep a closer eye on them and handle them more so that they can be more comfortable around people later.

How old are these chicks?

A lot of people brood indoors; I do not, but I choose not to.

What you're not taking into account is it sounds like these chicks are well old enough to be outside, and by bringing them back in you're not allowing them to get used to being outdoors and to learn to be chickens. You acknowledge it makes you feel better, but it's not necessarily the best thing for the chickens.

its not 'dangerous' but if you like a clean dust-free house there will be what amounts to the equivalent of a 'dust bomb' that will saturate an area approximately 30' around the brooder with a thick layer of dust on everything, starting at 3-4 days ..so thats when i personally move them to the garage .. if it wasnt for the cleaning problem id love to keep them inside ...
