Chicks in the Winter

ya ....ummm...SERIOUSLY ... but they don't ( say NO that is...)

That reminds me of the student who would show up in a freaking SUIT with a tie...and sandals for footwear. No socks in his case, though...

I commented on it since he would be looking for a job soon. He informed me that, "Sandals were good enough for Jesus so they are good enough for me..."

Seriously, dude. Jesus did not wear a suit jacket and a tie and a button up dress shirt with sandals...better get a robe...

( Ahem....Chicken!)

It isn't as far off track as some posts on the chicks forum. They started with chicks and ended up talking about dogs on one topic.

I don't care how far off they get. I just wondered how they got from chicks to socks but then again JJMR was the cause so I guess we should be glad it didn't get worse.

Mine would wear a jacket and a pair of wool socks tonight. It is supposed to get down to 30 degreese tonight. Do you think one heat lamp will be enough for them.

I have a Bantam Buff Cochin hen due to hatch a clutch of her eggs and some NH eggs. It is cold enough here in NW Ohio that I got them fur booties and scarves of varying colors - ahem - they will be stylin'!!!! No sandals unless they put boots on over them!
Seriuously, if it gets too cold I will bring them all into a brooder in the house!

I am prepared for an ice storm. I have a box of hot hands 2 heat lamps and a brooder with wheels incase I have to put them inside.

How old are they?
If your talking about adult birds, they should be fine. 30 deg. ain't nothing for an adult coturnix. Just keep the wind off them and they should be fine without any added heat. Chicks are another story.
