Our baby chicks are in a metal bucket and they keep kicking up the bedding we put in there and then trying to eat the metal??

Scratching is exactly what chickens do from hatch so your job is to create an environment that resolves any potential problems before they arise.
Keep water and food elevated to the height of the chicks' backs.

I would recommend putting their food, water and grit on a raised surface slightly above the floor level so that less shavings get kicked in. Chicks are basically known to do this because it's a natural instinct for them to scratch, peck and burrow.

I posted this on your other thread:

the bucket is way too small and bedding too sparse. A metal floor can be slippery so needs to stay covered up. Also a couple other things:

- elevate the feeder and waterer on some bricks, see how they're just sinking into the shavings? That'll lead to damp shavings and no drinkable water.
