Chicks keep running from me

As prey animals they are spooked by approach from above. Many folks solve this problem by constructing brooders with side access so that chicks are approached on their level.

They are a month old now. I have transferred them to a coop. They are much friendlier now. New friends are easily made with a handful of mealworms.
