Chicks lost in mail

This is one of the reasons I researched for a fairly local breeder. I was fortunate to find one about half an hour from me that I was comfortable with. I wanted to be sure of his bio security and knowledge. I would have traveled farther if needed to get what I wanted. Plus he raises them till they are ready for the outdoors if need be. I did need that my first time because it was October and I have no brooder.
Next time I will look for someone more local. I should have known. USPS is really bad. I called their customer service and this is what the man on the phone told me: The package was dropped off at the post office at the end of the day Monday. That means one day delay already. I told him: No, no, the delay is happening at the USPS facility in New Orleans. Because my chicks arrived there Tuesday morning and nothing has happened with them since. They are probably going to wait until the end of today, because priority mail is 2-3 business days and I guess USPS wants to use that full time and will deliver after 3 business days + one delay day = tomorrow afternoon. I will wait another day, but will be at the post office first thing tomorrow morning to check on status.

I had simular experience with adult birds a couple weeks ago.

Oh my, I am sorry you had to go through all of this. It is so nerve wrecking. I am very relieved and happy that all birds made it alive. Enjoy them!!!!!!

The latest update on my shipment:

In Transit to Next Facility
Your package is moving within the USPS network and is on track to be delivered by the expected delivery date. It is currently in transit to the next facility.

Where are they? Why doesn;t USPS just show where my package is? Is it a secret? Probably because they are making mistakes with live animals :( I really don;t like them at all. But hopefully they will arrive tomorrow healthy and alive. I will be at the post office first thing!

Just wanted to let you know you weren't alone. I read your post and could so relate.
I'll be praying for your little ones and hoping it turns out well for you.
Hang in there.
