Chicks pooping blood

I found this site when I searched baby chicks pooping blood, and as per the thread from 2009 I ran out and got some Corid to treat them. It is day 2, we have not lost any chicks but there is still blood in the poop. I am doing my best to keep their food and water as clean as possible. How long should it take until there is no longer blood in the poop? I plan on doing 5 days of treatment with ½ a tsp of 20% Corid per gallon, how’s this sound? Also, I have a laying hen that may or may not have come into contact with the chicks old bedding, should I treat her as well??? if so, will it be safe to eat her eggs? If not long should I discard her eggs after treatment?

pay special attention to the chicks. how are they acting? are they weak and drooping? do all of the chicks have the bloody poo? is their poo also watery? make sure they are all eating, drinking, resting, but not weak and sickly looking. make sure the bedding is also clean and dry- bacteria thrives in moist, warm environments so keeping the bedding dry will help keep bacteria at bay. the hen should be fine as long as she doesnt show signs of sickness. i think your chicks may have coccidiosis- have any of your birds had it before?
 
Your dosage is correct. Continue with the corid treatment. If there are sick chicks not drinking, you'll have to use an eyedropperful of the mixture to put a couple of drops on the side of their beak to drink until they are able to drink the mixture on their own, do this about 6-7 times a day. Eggs are safe to eat from your hen, corid is not an antibiotic.
 
The chicks seem to be eating and drinking, and they don’t seem to be weak or drooping. It’s hard to tell how many of them have blood in their stool as there are 15 of them. There is one that seems less active then the others but I would not say it looks droopy.

We have never had this problem before, we have had these chicks just over a week now, we got them from a feed store.

I say just keep doing what your doing and make sure they all eat and drink and watch for signs on increased sickness.. Good luck!
 
How long will it take for the Corid to take effect ? Should j stop after 5 days even if there is still blood in the stool .?
 
I think the corid is working I am not seeing anymore blood.... but my question is do I run the corid for 5 or 7 days? Looks like j am seeing people say both.....
