Chicks wont go in

I have almost 6 week old chicks..I have modified the coop so they can now go outside but only have limited space inside because I'm not done with the inside yet. Anyway..they spend the day outside..they go in and out throughout the day eating food, drinking water..but when it comes night time..they dont go in! They will even go nap in there during the day! They are confusing me. I have to go out each night and herd them in. Its been at least a week, I thought they would have gotten the picture..its dark..time to go in. They just sleep all together in a ball on the ground under the ramp. Anyone got any suggestions? I let it get fairly dark cause I thought maybe I wasnt waiting long enough but its still a no go. HElp!!
