I don't know where you stand, but a good many of people Ryker's taken in here were orphaned or abandoned or something tragic, and they'd rather forget everything that isn't now. But I like remembering. A bit backward, maybe, but holding what I was a few years ago close, it makes the now easier to go through." She glanced up at Ellie to see if she was following.

Zaine stretched his wings out briefly, then settled back down so she could finish. He couldn't respond verbally to her comment so he just continued staring at the two.

Ellie nodded, "Well to each their own, if that is what helps you then I am happy that you can do that. My past is complicated, so leaving most of it in the past is best. There are parts I like to hold onto, but that is it. And this place isn't as bad as it could be so its not a terrible life." she replied opening up some dip for her pretzels.
