Child At Heart, Monster By Nature (A Shape Shifting RP)

"You didn't scare me!" The redhead was quick to defend his failing reputation. He ignored Pete's tongue sticking at him and focused on the girl. "I mean, you didn't scare me. Who are you? And what are you doing back here?" He asked.

Haley waited till the mother closed the window and had receded into the room with her child before she dared move from the spot. She made her way slowly back around the building to where she had left Amaryllis, but was startled when she saw the boys near the dumpster.

"My name's Amaryllis, and I'm hiding behind this dumpster from a man who seeks my harm." Amaryllis answered in perfect honesty, although she didn't mention the fact that she wasn't alone. The boys hadn't earned her trust yet, so she saw no point in getting Haley involved incase they proved to be dangerous.

(Silkie, when you get the chance can you answer my post on Human After All? ;) )

Haley listened to the conversation but stayed put. The boys didn't look threatening and she wanted to hear what they had to say.
-
Joey looked at her as if he expected her to say, 'just kidding, I'm...', but she didn't. Actually, she looked to be perfectly honest about it. "Are you alone? I mean, besides the man seeking you, are you alone?"

Amaryllis quieted, looking to the ground for something to say. She couldn't lie, she never lied before. Were things any different? Instead of answering she avoided the question altogether.

Joey sighed, looked to his pal then back to Amaryllis. "Well, my name's Joey. This is Pete," he said, nudging the short brunette. "Is there anything we can do to help you?" Pete chimed in with an innocent and honest question.

Haley paced the small area of covered alley she had, waiting anxiously for the kids to leave. They didn't have time for this. Ryker could be here already, for all she knew.

"I don't think there..." Amaryllis paused as a thought came to mind, although she was hesitant to ask anything of the strangers, but for Haley's sake she did. "Would you mind sparing us some food?My friend and I have a long journey to make before we will be safe, but we only have a days with of left to split between us."

"I don't—" Joey was stopped short by his friend.
"It'd be our pleasure," Pete said sweetly. He then grabbed J by the elbow and dragged him out from behind the dumpster.
"We can't just help the lady! We don't even know if she's telling the truth!" Joey said in a hushed voice.
Pete leaned around to see if Amaryllis was watching. "I think she's telling the truth, and me Mum says you always ought to help people! You never know when you'll be the helpless one asking," he argued reasonably.
Joey gave in, nodding his approval. "Fine then. But we're going to your pantry! My mum is home and she int in a good mood, what with the little ones being such a handful right now."

Haley hurried to where Amaryllis was as soon as the boys were out of sight. "Are you okay?" She asked worriedly.

"No, I really don't think it will!" Alexis insisted. She dried her eyes once more then crossed her arms and tried to look serious. "Dimitri, I tell you this as a friend who would hate to see you embarrass yourself in public someday, and because I really want you to shut up. Face it, Tiger. You couldn't sing to save your life!" She burst into giggles once again.

"Well thanks for shattering another dream. Just so you know, I always wanted to go on The Voice. But now that all over with. " Dimitri said with mock regret as he put his hands on his hips and looked to the floor. For added effect, he threw in a sniffle here and there. He also peeked to see if Alexis was buying what he was selling.

Donella nodded and looked at her then to the book "I know, Kodkods are so small and their lands are being taken from them. Humans are their biggest predators."

"Well you're safe with me. They'd have to come through me to get to you. I'm not the biggest cat on the block, but I'm proud to say I'm friends with him. So look out bad people hear use roar! Wait, cheetahs can't roar either. Hear.... wait, can tigers roar?" Andorra said with consideration.
