Anuerin awoke from a fitful rest early in the night. Sure that he wouldn't be able to fall asleep again he stood to leave the room. He walked down the hallway to the elevator that quickly came to take him to the upper levels of the mansion. Mindlessly he entered a number and walked out slowly as the doors opened again. He went directly to his room, thinking that was were he wanted to be. It was when he reached the door that he realized the fear of the shame he would feel if he was seen by someone he knew, questions undoubtedly asked, was overcome by the fear of the morning's memories that lay in wait for him inside. He hesitated a moment longer before deciding to go to Amaryllis' room instead. He didn't knock when he came to the door, but rather sat down to lean against the wall outside the door frame. Amaryllis was undoubtedly asleep by this time. When Amaryllis first came to the mansion, before the tests and experiments, they spent most of their time together. Amaryllis had a way of quieting the demons that brought Anuerin low while he was awake, and in return he watched over her while she slept to comfort her from her nightmares. But all this time, it had comforted him too. Anuerin had the sudden realization that it wasn't because of their blood that their bond was formed, but rather their sorrow was the simularity that brought them together. They accepted their brokenness together. They had nothing to offer each other except for a selfless love. He had been avoiding Amaryllis because he was ashamed of his actions. He had done many terrible things before, but that never stopped Amaryllis from loving him. Anuerin needed Amaryllis just as much as she needed him. Anuerin thought long into the night about this and many other things. The silence of the hallway purposed an invitation to his demons that fed on his fears and shame and regret. He wished that unconsciousness would rescue him from his depression, but it
wasn't until early morning dawned that sleep took Anuerin.
(I know we already time skipped, but I've been busy and didn't get the chance to post this earlier. Hope you don't mind.)
