The weather here has been cold and we have been fogged in for days, no snow. We don't get snow often but my chickens don't like to go out in it either, they need to make little chicken boots!

Thanks for the welcome and what a niffy idea from kidcody, I could go for some little snugly chicken boots for my girls. I can just imagine the prints in the snow, lol. And they would need hats to match, of course.

Hello Weimarmama, thanks for the welcome and your joke reminds me that I could end up one of those crazy ladies with a chicken or two in my house. If it should get too cold here in Ohio this winter and the power goes off too long, I consider that emergency enough to set my sweeties up near the wood burner. And right beside me and the cat. Many years ago when people did not have good central heat in their homes, I had an Aunt who kept her whole flock in her upstairs during the winter. Everyone in the family whispered about it and only since I have had chickens do I understand how much she loved them. And oh, how love can make a person do crazy, crazy things.

And the weather will get better soon! I used to feel bad for my chickens when it snowed cause I knew they wanted to go outside and play so I shoveled the snow and threw down some straw for them (so they wouldnt get their precious feet wet lol) and they all loved it!

I too am from NW Ohio and I too am soooooo ready for summer! My peeps do not understand this miserable weather either - what happened to the nice warm sunny days when we could dig around in the gardens all day long?! Lots of cracked corn and scratch grains for treats in the pole barn helps them pass the rainy/snowy/cold/miserable days much better! The people where I work already think I am one of those crazy old chicken ladies! Haha - they sure love to buy eggs from me though!!
