I hatched a batch of eggs from my flock in February this year and ended up with a very strange looking chick. My flock consists of purebred standard hens with a purebred silkie rooster and purebred polish rooster. This chick hatched out with one black leg with extra toe and one normal colored leg with no extra toe. His feather color is split down the center blue on one side and black on the other. His skin is also darker on the black legged side. He hatched out of a standard size egg- I believe from my blue copper marans but I am not 100% on that. There were no silkie or polish eggs in the incubator. As an adult, he has a strange V shaped comb with one side being larger.
Is it possible for two roosters to fertilize one egg? He seems to be the offspring of both my silkie rooster and my Polish rooster which seems like it shouldn't be possible. Could the egg have been a double yolker, fertilized by two roosters (no eggs in the incubator were larger than normal) and then the yolks merged once fertilized? Any other explanations?
He is really a mystery to me and I have been trying to find someone who has seen something similar and has an explanation. Here are some photos of him as a chick and adult (he is very evasive and hard to get clear pictures of)
