IF, they had to initiate a major quarantine here in the US, do you think it wouldn't be similar to what they're doing there?

No, I don't. Boarding up people in their houses so they can't get out? Are you kidding me? Government thugs beating up people in the streets? Shutting down the entire country for something so uncertain? No, we have better sense than that. There is no justifiable rationale for taking such drastic measures for something so unproven to be virulent.

No, the CDC would not board up people in their houses or beat people up in the streets for not wearing masks. It would be in big trouble if it tried that. Frankly, it doesn't have the authority to do anything like that. It is a non-profit organization, not a government agency. They can quarantine people coming into the country, but as far as I know that's it.

The CDC would say quarantine, the police and/or National Guard would enforce. I only saw citizens beating up people, not authorities so I'd be interested to see that. Quite frankly, if you resist you're going to get beat up here too. We see it on the news all the time in the US. Those people who were let off the boat in Cambodia? One of them has now tested positive for the virus, but hey they're all off the boat! No thank you. At some point someone has to say no, for the greater good of the people this is how it is whether you like it or not.

If you're really that interested here's the timeline - https://twitter.com/russian_market - with a couple of those instances buried in there somewhere. I really don't feel like going through it all to find them. The videos of thugs dressed in black clothing and masks beating citizens are communist party members.

I posted one earlier of an obvious party official ordering his accomplices to tie up someone because he wasn't wearing a mask, while he went and stole a woman's bra off her clothes line, sniffed it, and then wrapped it around the person's face as a face mask.

I don't have twitter but I'll do some research. As for the bra, it's about as effective as the masks they're wearing. Those people need N95 masks at the very least so that whole thing was pointless.

Something uncertain that spreads like this and is already overwhelming the resources available in the area is a very good reason. The conditions could be far worse if someone doesn't take action. Our own CDC is screening patients in 5 major US cities that present flu symptoms.

Hen, I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but yes, they can, and HAVE boarded people up in their homes under quarantine. Admittedly, it has not happened like that in a very long time, but that is how it's done, even today.

Do you know that nurses are trained in how to deal with bio hazard situations, including quarantine situations where people are quarantined in their homes. Some states have them sign non disclosure agreements regarding mass containment protocols, in the event of a highly lethal pandemic. Not only that, but in most places, first responders are trained in dealing with bio hazard situations, which include pandemics, a bio warfare attack, etc. They too learn mass population containment protocols, or more commonly called quarantine procedures to follow, if mandated.

When you call this something "so uncertain", THAT's when it's especially important to contain it. When it's uncertain, but a lot of people seem to have it, and those numbers rise appear to rise significantly on a daily basis, and the death toll is rising a more rapidly than with a normal flu, you don't know if you have another Spanish flu type pandemic about to break out, or not. The time to act, is BEFORE it gets out of control. BTW The Spanish flu pandemic of 1918, the deadliest in history, infected an estimated 500 million people worldwide—about one-third of the planet’s population—and killed an estimated 40 million to 50 million victims, and there were a lot less people around back then.

In 2009, right here in the US, there were over 12,000 deaths resulting from confirmed cases of H1N1 Swine flu, alone. While not considered an overly "hot strain", that's still not an insignificant amount of people.
