I just noticed that one of my hens has what appears to be the end of her beak chipped off. I can see something dark colored underneath it. Will it grow back out? She doesn't seem in pain and she is eating and drinking. I was just surprised to see it chipped back so much.

Also i did search for this topic but couldn't find it anywhere.

Thanks for any info...

That's wierd...

Well, if she is eating and all, I don't think there should be a problem.

...that musta hurt her!......from what i know of parrots..the beak will grow back...well..i guess but maybe it also depends how much it is chipped down?....my grey cracked the tip of his beak off once...blood everywhere...

..but he's fine and its growing back...and also, i filed down my white rocks beak a while back..(i thought she has cross beak or something)..and its grown back some....good luck with her!..can she eat okay?...Wendy

When she was very small, maybe two weeks, one of my hens had the flaring part of one nostril pecked. It had a small, superficial chip in it, but it did grow back. You can't even see the spot now. I guess it works like fingernails. Since it's so deep, maybe it will leave a pucker.

good!..so maybe she didnt break it as far as the blood supply then.?..when max cracked his..we had to call a vet..he had to talk us through it, to get the bleeding to stop..and i know it must of hurt like heck..cause he let us hold him..and press his beak and everything..normally he'd be trying to nip at us!...
