I have a towel especially for Dixie Chic to sit on when she's on the bed. It's on top of HER temper-pedic pillow. She knows it's her pillow and will sit there and cackle at me. As for the rest of the house, we have hard wood floors so compost deposits are not a big deal.

My guess is that your little chick feels a bit lost with just the two of them. She is probably already used to a crowd.

Oh gosh, another reason for chicken math!

I have two new 3-day old chicks and the same situation...the GLP is fine, but my Gold Spangled Hamburg must be very social, because when the GLP is sleeping, she cries and cries. I know she's not hot or cold. When I come downstairs to investigate (brooder is in the basement), she stops. She also likes to be held in my cupped hands. I'm hoping it gets better as they get used to their new home. I may also pick up my Spitzhauben in the next few days, and that would make 3 instead of 2.

I had one that chirp, chirp, chirpped all the time too...especially when we picked up any of the other chicks out of the brooder. Then she chirped even more insistently. Turns out "she" grew into a HE, and I guess it was early possessive roo behavior!

Common I had one that chirpy chirp chirped whenever I wasnt around so I put a stuffed chicken toy in with my babies and it seemed to do the trick. <3

I had a baby that peep, peep, peepd at me all the time. She wanted to be held. A year later she still wants to be held. If I leave my sliding door open to my bedroom, she'll come in, jump up on the bed and watch tv with me until I kick her out - or come hang out with me in the house wherever I am. I love that hen......

aww, she sounds so sweet, we had turkeys that would wonder in the house wanted to be held by mama
