Chocolate Orpington roo over Buff hen????

I thought the first generation would produce sex link chicks chocolate pullets and black Roos containing 1 chocolate and 1 black gene is that incorrect? It was my understanding chocolate roo with will produce this with any mix
I’m new at this so I’m trying to learn lol

You're correct but the chocolate only dilutes black so only the black parts will be chocolate.
Solid chocolate like your rooster is on extended black and extended black usually covers or mostly covers other patterns.
Problem is the buff side. Buff is a weird color to cross. Never know how much buff is going to show with mixed patterns.

Ok I think I understand, so for “true” sex link chicks it would work best with black or chocolate hens?
