Chocolate Serama Breeders - dun and blue can be included here as well

Just checking in, our grandkids are here from out of state.
Yes, I've seen that article. It's very interesting reading for anyone interested in chocolate varieties!

Austinhart,
Are they all from the same hen and rooster? It might be helpful to anyone interested in them to show photo's of the hen and rooster they're out of.

Ok, here, is Neesme. I have no clue what color her parents were. Is she chocolate or just brown?

You won't know for sure till she's crossed with a black roo...If she's chocolate, all the cockerals will be chocolate, (since it's a sex-linked gene), and the pullets will be black.

Key West, doesn't matter what color, she's gorgeous!

Juliette,
I thought that a chocolate hen crossed to a black rooster would only produce black pullets and chocolate split cockerels?? that are black and carry the chocolate gene? Then you could breed a cockerel from that cross back to the mother hen and get chocolates.
That would be in a breed that didn't have sooo many other genes to complicate things. A solid black to a solid chocolate might still produce such mixed up colors that you'd have a hard time telling for sure. If you get some colors you love from a cross, and you can produce more of them I'd do it. That hen is a lovely color visually, I hope you can produce more of them Key West

I need to take some photo's of my newest pullets, some from Cara and a couple from Ruthless. They're really nice! It's been storming and pouring rain for several days now and flooding all around here so I'm waiting for a clear day with decent lighting.

Currently I have 1 completely chocolate serama pullet that I hatched from a (to remain nameless until I get the go-ahead) fellow BYC'er. He has chocolate hens, no roos. (Edit: apparently he has a chocolate carrier cock bird to make all these pretty girls!)

Unfortunately I don't have a chick pic of her but she was a dark cinnamon-brown when she hatched. I believe my friend has 5 or 6 chocolate hens in his breeders.
