I got them from a guy who has a small flock and seems to just enjoy them. He told me he needed a cockerel so I brought 3 for him to choose from and he ended up taking all three. The remainder of his flock was mostly black with a lot of red, not near black really but not BBR or any other regular color. He did have one cocopop looking rooster but he was more red than that coco coloring and he didn't have the cream hackles. He had a couple older hens like Gigi but they were more white with the ginger looking markings and 3 hens that looked sort of buff with a darker head and a few partly black tail feathers. There was one older black hen with black legs and comb (gypsy faced?) One of the chicks I took to him looked like it might feather out with some blue. I hope to get some colors to him that he can play with and get more cool colors we can swap with. The scary or sad thing is that they are all free ranged and at any given time, they could theoretically all be killed over night if the right predator finds them. They are healthy and happy lil chickens being out like that but with that freedom comes risks and inherent dangers.
I'm sure these hens will settle in to being penned but I'm also sure they would rather run loose
