Choking duck???

My duck has been eating cracked corn lately and when he’s done he acts/looks like he’s choking?? Or he can’t get it down??
He doesn’t act like this any other time.
Could he be sick?
Help!

Cracked corn is hard to swallow, especially if it's dusty. They should always have water close by to wash it down. I feed mine whole corn, it goes down more easily.

It's dry and he's not taking drinks often enough.... as long as he works it down, he should be ok... but corn should be a limited treat, it is empty calories, like potato chips to us...

He has water right there. So I don’t know what the deal is. Haha. I’ve noticed whole corn was a lot easier. So after this stuff is gone.. (there’s a lot) I’ll get some more whole corn.

You know the saying... you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink!

Some just think with their crops and stuff it as fast as they can... most times, they're ok, just keep an eye out for issues...

How can I get him to drink more? And I can’t get any of my ducks to eat their normal food.. just corn.

Just stop giving the corn... leave just their regular food out... they might pout and refuse to eat for a day or so, but they won't starve themselves if there is a food source available... I woukd continue to withhold the corn until they get comfortable with their regular, balanced diet... then just offer a handful once in a while, should make them extra friendly for you too...

Mine just get some corn once a day, and only a bit, so they have to eat the ration or be hungry.
