I'm from Newcastle, up the coast a bit further again, there's a few people with urban backyard chooks round here - so I think my neighbours only think I'm unusual because of how much I talk to them!

We actually got the idea of chickens from our neighbours, so a backyard flock is not so weird.

Hi Ange H! Whereabouts are you exactly? My soon-to-be in-laws are in and around Newcastle (Adamstown & Standford Merthyr), and they have chooks! I spend a fair bit of time there, and also in Lemon Tree Passage...

People who DON'T talk to animals are WEIRD - why wouldn't you? They're SUCH good listeners - hahahahaha ;-) I talk to my cat, dog and chooks constantly. They answer back in their own ways
