Christian Topic: Bible Translations - which do you like?

Why do people get so upset over bible discussions? People say "I believe _______ " and soon as you bring a verse they don't like, it's instant anger.

Since it's our souls at stake, why don't we want to reason together? Since we're using same Bible (in most cases) why so many different "ways" to be saved by God?

sometimes bible vs that anger me are ones that convict me the most.

Gosh, I know that NKJ is my fav. But how can you not love all the others too when they give so much insight into God's word?? I keep coming back to this thread and posting because it gets my thinking. And THAT, dear OP, is awesome!!!

I prefer NIV with concordance, too. King James allowed himself too much influence over the writers of that translation for my taste, but I don't really mind using any translation--whatever's being read from is OK with me in a church setting.

One verse I never change, regardless of translation, when we're reading the Christmas story from the Bible aloud on Christmas morning is, "Mary kept these things, and pondered them in her heart." That verse, to me, is just poetic and beautiful, and loses a bit of its beauty to other translations. So I always slip it in there that way if I'm reading from a different translation on Christmas morning!

There is only one that is truley correct: The King James Version.
I think the others either omit certain things they don't like, or understand. Thats just my opinion, however.
