I'll check out those websites, thanks!

I'm sorry, but I do not trust Joel Osteen's preaching AT ALL. Please be careful about who you trust with Biblical teaching. Remember...

Matthew 7 (KJV)

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Please be careful.

May I ask why? I haven't ever heard anything from him that made me question him..... I don't watch him regularly but haven't ever heard him say anything false..??

What you will not hear from Joel Osteen is doctrine. What you will hear is "feel-good" motivational speaking. Can't learn a thing without biblical doctrine.

There is no meat in his message whatsover.

Without getting into this too much, watch this
and then ask yourself how a Christian pastor "does not know" the answers to what Larry is asking.

Why not just answer truthfully based on what the Bible and the Christian faith teaches:
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 KJV

I think Osteen is afraid to step on anyone's toes and is afraid to offend anyone, Christian or not. And that is all I'm going to say about him.

The first little church that my DH and I attended after getting saved had a preacher that preached about God's love every single Sunday. After a year and a half, I was STARVING! Gotta get off the milk and onto the meat!!

I can't hear that, my speakers quit working about a week ago...What is he saying?

I am not too familiar with the feel good TV motivational speaker term. We don't have cable so I don't see much TV. I see Joel when I go to my g-mothers to help clean her house. I can't really say or remember if I have heard him speak on exact teachings/doctrine/etc... He does take scripture and then talk about it/explain it. He does seem to be lifting my spirit when I hear him. Like, he is making me realize how to deal with some things. I just haven't heard anything false from him...that I know of or have realized. I am pretty young in my faith so far and am no expert on any of it. But what is wrong with a motivational biblical speaker? Is there? I would think that that could be a good thing. Make people more hungry to go out and research things on their own. I know when I hear Joyce and Joel I always mark scripture and go back and read it on my own from my own bible on and I do come away learning things. Things that I may not have paid more attention to and studied more carefully without hearing him speak on a matter. That can't be a bad thing....??

I'll be googling Joel now

An issue with the Osteens, and others, is that they take scripture out of context and spiritualize it to the point that it has no teeth anymore. Maybe they just don't know any better. They are really not much different than most other TV evangelists, sadly. "Rah, rah, rah" doesn't last. Truth lasts. Truth is what people need. There are hard, tough truths in scripture that the Osteens won't touch because they arent considered "positive". That waters the message down so far that just any secular motivational speaker could take it up and run with it and leave out all the important scripturally-based truths. Just because someone uses bible verses does not mean they use them correctly or honestly or in context. Context is extremely important. Without context, all you have is "bumper sticker Christianity".
