OMGosh! That is terrible, I didn't know! We will keep them in our prayers!

Robins Brood ~ Please forgive me, and I hate to sound stupid/ignorant on the matter but I don't underestand all of that really. Mybe it is because I am so new in my faith...IDK...You can explain it to me

This is what I believe....I think that in order to make it to heaven you must believe in God, his word, and his son Jesus. But to believe in it means you must obey it, follow it, and strive to live it. Even satan believes in God and Jesus, he knows they are real as I do but true belief in him means you do those I stated above. I have felt that alot of people think just because they believe then they get to go to heaven but if you really believe you read, learn, live it, and strive to get there. Does that make sense to you guys?

Joel Osteen's message is one, like so many other preachers today who are not taught the Bible in school. The seminaries today teach that the Bible was a product of man's doing and the teachings or truths contained in the Bible are open to interpretation. When a person studies the Bible as the Word of God and not man, and the truth in the book is every word written, not to be reinterpreted, then the message is different. Dispensational Right Division only takes the Bible as it is written and addresses the message to whom it was written to. God wrote to Jews somethings and to Gentiles other things. I am a Gentile living 2000 years after my Saviour died. I can not claim promises made by God to the Jewish people. My reward is in Heaven according to my apostle Paul, and not an earthly kingdom which Peter understood to be his reward. There is a difference between Gospel and Philosophy.

I checked out the link and am impressed with it. I have it bookmarked now.

As far as Joel Osteen is concerned-- a few years ago, I started reading one of his books. Without being too clear on the details, (it was a while ago and the memory is fuzzy...) He said something like if you prayed for a parking spot right in front of the door, God would find one for you. My thoughts were, when there are so many other worthwhile things to pray for, praying for a great parking spot for yourself is pretty darn selfish. I stopped reading the book, and started thinking he was in it for himself, the money, and the notoriety. He needs to be in it to bring poeple to God, and to true understanding of the scriptures.

When one opens their heart and accepts there is but one God and that He sent His son, Jesus, to die for our sins who was crucified, dead, and buried and rose on the 3rd day into Heaven and it is by our faith in this very thing that saves us.

This is ALL that is asked of us...to believe in this...to believe His son died for our sins and rose again so that we may have eternal life.

Now when reading the Bible...things will be made clear and you will get a new understanding. If something is not made clear then it is not time for us to understand it. The Bible talks about dark glass...it is hard to look through dark glass...but when it is time it will be made clear. Same thing with the young...they drink milk and when it is time, they will eat meat.

Pray to Jesus that God may open you're heart so when you read the Bible that things may become clear. When you do...you will be listening to the people that have been mentioned and those who have not and you will be able to discern if what they are saying and teaching is in HIS word or not. I have found many who are not and I am so glad that He has opened my eyes.

There are times when my dh would get frustrated while reading the Word and ask me something. If I didn't have the answer or he couldn't make sense of it...it would really get to him. I came across a passage where Daniel speaks to God and asks him lots of questions...after a while God speakes and says, "Close the book Daniel." For it was not the time for him to have those answers. Everything is in God's time and we must have patience.

So when my dh or someone comes to me with a question and I can not answer and I see his frustration, I look to him and say, "Close the book Daniel."

For when the dark glass is meant to be made clear, God will make it clear.

In the mean time, pick up your Bibles more and read and things WILL be made clear and be careful of the false prophets. I did not know how easy it was to be manipulated by these people and once you see for yourselves someone who is taking His Word and twisting it...then you will see how wrong they are.

I will pray for your discernment.

God bless,
Gretchen

Well, we certainly do not want to make this a "roast" of Joel Osteen or anyone else. His name was just brought up, but he just represents a certain type of speaker. And we dont want to make it a preaching thread, either, so that it becomes something it wasn't meant to be.
Robin, Les Feldick is an excellent teacher for you or anyone else, as is Richard Jordan or John Verstagen (sp?) and a few others. They are good, no-nonsense, logical teachers with no cheerleading type style that detracts from the message. Glad to see there is someone not too far from us who listens to this type teacher.

There are plenty of others that could be mentioned, certainly.

That is terrible about Joyce Meyer's security guard! I may not agree with all she says, but no one should feel unsafe or be physically attacked for their beliefs. Sad world we have.
