Counted my chickens! I moved broody, something I always advise against, but the cabinet was so cute! this am momma hen let her 2 eggs go cold and now I may pull the whole pull on the incubator, they only went in yesterday, but now no broody to put them under.

I moved momma hen to a diff lay box, but she didn't like getting moved, and let her eggs go cold. I took them out and was going to pull the whole plug on the incubator as well, but I really want the frizzles! so I put all eggs back into incubator (but eek washed the bloom off the big green frizzle egg, but still hopeful. who knows if any will hatch now, but with the eggs chilling at an early stage, maybe it will not matter.

I added more frizzles, and a BI, and a legbar (blue egg)

I just found out the Maran egg at the top is a Coco maran, not a BCM. I was hoping it was from my BCM.

Are your Marans eggs darker earlier in the laying season?

View attachment 1203574 This is a coocoo maran egg they are not as dark as a BCM egg. I have 3 BCM's but they are not laying at the moment.

Well, glad I got the eggs I did...I went out this morning and there was a feather explosion. All five of my best layers are molting, poor girls look very pathetic.

Eeeek oh no! Well I am sure they will enjoy their new features, but man what a time to molt! It is 12 degrees here this morn

My Norwegian Jaerhons always molted in January. I guess that was their way of saying they didn't consider a Missouri January to be very cold.
