Christmas Hatch

Good luck with the hatch.

My temp must of been just a smidge too low. Came home to two of the duck eggs having pipped (end of day 31), and one is unzipping already. So hopefully the chicks won't be too far behind, heading into day 25.

We have two pips and wiggly eggs all over! I'm so excited! I know I shouldn't be because so much could still go wrong but I am so very excited!

Good luck out there to all the other hatchers! Remember we need pics. Pics of the first pip shortly.
Gl to you and everyone coming up on hatching, lock down for me starts tonight

This colder weather is throwing off my incubators. Had to up the temps. My one is way off and I'm trusting the four other thermometers inside. Had to set it to 104 just to get 98.5-100.

Same here. I actually had to move mine to get the temperature up enough.

Hope everyone's hatches go well. I only had one duckling make it, need to find it some brood mates now.

Good luck in finding brood mates. One is better than none. I candled the last of my serama eggs this morning. Of the original 21 eggs 13 are alive and growing; 4 days to go for the first two clutches to hatch.

That picture was adorable! None of my chickens have deigned to go broody. In fact one laid an egg today in the food bowl.

Sorry the rest didn't make it. I hope you can find some brood mates for your lonely duckling.

13 is a good number! And good luck on your hatches!

My hatch has gone fairly well. I had an emergency but fixed it by raising humidity. I still had one shrink wrapped chick but it's out now and has just had bad luck. On it's way out of it's shell it ripped the place where it's umbilical cord attached. I was there filming it hatching so I was able to get to it quickly with some cornstarch. Now just to add some seasonings.... Lol. Anyways this is how my hatch broke down. I set 24 eggs, 18 were fertile and so far 15 have hatched and are in the brooder. The other three haven't pipped yet but one is rocking. So they are still in the incubator. I figured since they hadn't pipped and everyone else was dry (or almost so) and I had to cornstarch that last baby, I just took them to the brooder to finish drying and going amuck. I'll attach pics shortly, as soon as my dh brings my phone back. Lol. Still waiting on the other three. Later tonight I will check again and continue following the assisted hatch guide (if I need to but I really don't want to).

I have 18 silkie eggs that I dropped in the 'bator a while back. I'm expecting them to hatch on the 26th. So,they will be Boxing day chicks. I am a terrible candler - they all have something going on in there. Not sure if it's good or bad, but I didn't see any clears. It's my first hatch, and these will be the first set to go in to lockdown. I have another 7 set to hatch on 1/1. Then 5 to set on 1/4.

Let's hope that at least some of them make it!!

Good luck on the fluff butts! I have fifteen healthy noisy chicks! Well not as noisy as they were at first but they have pretty much settled in now.
