Tiny thing but what a Christmas present!!!

What is the breed of chicken that laid that egg? I. too, am breathlessly awaiting the first reddish egg from one of my five new Welsummers. None yet have appeared.

I think it was one of my Rhode Island Reds. When I went down last night to give them water, one was scratching around in the nest box. Alas, I do not get to eat it however as my husband accidentally knocked it off the counter and broke it :-/

I am new to chickens and I got my first egg Monday, well, there were 2 so she laid one Sunday too. Found another yesterday but not today. My chicken is a 9 month old d'uccle so they are little eggs, but so cute! I was like a new mom excited, lol!

I didn't realize it would be so exciting! I was bent over grabbing the waterer and happen to glance in the nest boxes. I was like "oh no way!!" Lol. Off to the feed store tomorrow to buy oyster shell :)

First eggs are always exciting. I've had chickens for 13 years now, and I still celebrate and get excited over a pullet's first egg! It's a wonderful thing.
