In Canada (don't know about the USA) the X-rays belong to the Vet but you can have copies made at your own expense.
I do not understand why they are the Vet's property if the owner paid to have them taken? but that is the case. So the owner pays twice.
They are supposed to forward X-rays to another Vet but some don't, especially if they are rivals. Happens all the time here.
You can pay to have your hay tested. Sometimes the hay farmer has had his hay tested. When in doubt have it tested yourself. Some people use this company http://www.equi-analytical.com/
I have one filly that gets the squirts if there is too much protein in the hay/grass.
The clay product for diarrhea is called Bio-Sponge.
Maybe you chronic lame horse needs a new Farrier?
I had a Farrier who went to Olds College to learn his trade. My horse was lame for three years with him doing the work. The horse wasn't lame before he started. Under his care the horse cost me $3000 (in hoof resections) and was still lame. He told me the horse would be lame for life.
Got fed up, fired him and got a new Vet, hired a rehab Farrier, now my horse is sound.
