Another Update: We still have the roosters, It makes me sad and happy at the same time. Sad because I am becoming more attached to them. And it makes me happy because I love them so much and I enjoy being with them and watching them with the flock. Im still asking everyone I meet, putting up flyers, and they are still on craigslist. I even contacted a local farm that rescues farm animals, but have not heard back from them. But on a good note, the city has not said anything to us about our roosters even though they are crowing when they are outside during the day. Does anyone have any other suggestions then what we are doing for re-homing our roosters?

Oh ya, concerning "Baby" check out his tail feathers. They are growing in weired and they are growing down and out, unless they are being plucked. He has also started the egg laying song along with crowing. Im going to add another post about this with more of his butt pictures.

Update: Comet found a new home on Monday. I met up with a lady at a gas station. We talked for a long time as she was unsure if she wanted one of them. But a guy that was pumping gas saw us and asked about the chickens. He took Comet. OMG I cried like a baby. Stupid city ordinance is all I can think to blame, but in reality it is my fault. I keep telling myself I will never buy chicks from a straight run again.

On Tuesday morning I knew I had to find a home for the other two fast so the pain would not go on for weeks. So I called my local feed store and asked If I could bring two roos up there to re-home. They where more than happy to let me drop them off with my own cages. I got the cages, food, and water ready and took them to store. As soon I arrived to set my boys up an employee said he wanted them. I know they are going to a good home as this guy raises roosters. I even got to witness him get pecked several times as he was taking one out of the cage. He did not mind one bit and even said to me, "Its ok, thats what they do"

Well to add to the my first timer roo story my two Polishes "Disco" and "Groovy" started crowing this week and my Dark Brahma "Big Mama" crowed this morning, now we have to call her "Big Daddy".

Six out of the eight chics we bought back in March turned out to be roo's.

You did a good job!

Wow, crazy odds! I was questioning Comet. His feathers didn’t look like a roo at first, but that impressive comb. Last photo of him: 100% roo. Not to mention the crowing. All beautiful boys!

They where very beautiful with very high shean that didn't show in the photos. The lady at the gas station even remarked about it. Thinking back upon Comet growing up, when they where all out side Comet would not stay near the rest and would find a high spot in the yard and would just watch. Even at a very early age. He was the best. I'm going to miss him for a long time.
