Hi all
I hatched a bunch of eggs from my CLB hen x Orp Roo (either black or Jubilee).
The chicks all look similar. Who is in agreement there's a clear sex divide here or am I being too hasty? Always appreciate a second opinion.
Hen left, boy centre and right.
That'd give me 5m:2f!

Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, you may have created sex-links. Mom was barred, yes?
Hmm, yes, but I didn't think this would work given that the CLB is itself a cross. But there's definitely something going on as I've hatched 8 and there's four of each pattern. Four with one pattern have no barring and no comb. Ignore my earlier 5:2. It was lazy guess work

I have learned that it's not the purity of the bird that creates a sexlink. It's the gene for barring. (ETA: this of course only applies to barred sexlinks)

Correct me if I'm wrong @The Moonshiner (and praise me if I'm right lol), but a non-barred rooster over a barred hen will produce sexlinks. Males will be barred and females won't.
