Cleaner for Dog Messes? **PIC**

I bought a house that had cats living alone in it for nine months. The smell was horrible. We ripped out the carpet and padding, but the urine had soaked through the subflooring to the point that some of it had to be replaced due to rotting. The rest we cleaned and then when it was dry, we painted it with regular acrylic paint. The paint sealed off any lingering smell.

If you don't replace the drywall, using a good quality sealer, prep paint should help. Something like Kilz. But since you have skilled people, I'd recomend replacing the drywall if you can afford it. Then you won't have to worry about funky stuff leaking through. I think in the long run you'll be happier knowing that the stuff is GONE! I know I would.

People can be so nasty!!!!

I love the purple Fabuloso. There is NOTHING that it cannot get out with some hot water added. I had a similar issue in the house I now live in and it got it clean in nothing flat. It also deodorizes wonderfully.

This might be a long shot in your case but I have seen miracles doing this...take regular baking soda, buy 3 or 4 big boxes of it. Sprinkle it around the floors, and leave some in small bowls all over the house for about 2 days. It will absorb almost any odour forever.
We had a housefire a few years ago and the smoke damage was really bad. We had to repaint 3/4 or the house because the walls were absolutely black with soot. We put baking soda everywhere...and in the closets. It took the smoke smell away completely in 24 hours. The stuff is amazing, saved me so much in laundry!

My DH has works as General Contractor and has owned a carpet cleaning business and in his opinion, you need to gut the whole thing. Go down to the subfloor and rip it out. If it is on the cement (basement) bleach it. Let it sit. You will see the bleach foam up when it comes into contact with the urine. Keep doing it until it stops foaming and then do it several more times. Dog mess is easier to clean than cat but it is still a mess. After he has cleaned up a home he takes me into it and asks if I can smell anything. (He claims I am part bloodhound LOL). He says if I can smell anything it still needs to be worked on if I can't he starts to paint. You need to remember that if the dogs/cats smell it they may start to mark the place up too.

We're doing paperwork today and hopefully I'll have a 'move in' date, so I can get in there to clean. I'll post before and after pictures for sure
