I do leave feed in the brooder at all times, usually I take the chicks out of the brooder to work with them. I use my call when my chicks are in the brooder, and I have to replace the feed because they've eaten it all (I think this is what you are asking about).
This method is alot more work than most people use, but I've found it works for me. My guineas never give me a lick of trouble, coop every night, alert to danger, and still fly up to the porch to get attention occasionally even though they're two years old.
