Cleaning sand?

I did a lot of research on sand and it seemed to fit our coop the best. I started out with savings in the coop,and it was a hassle. Thank you for the suggestions. I will probably pick up a kitty litter scoop this afternoon

I used electric tape to tape mine to a handle of about 3 feet long so I don't need to bend, which is hard to do anyways.

Ugh I used sand in the run area and over the winter the poop became one with the sand and hardened! Now I need to dig it all up..oh and the smell is awful!! Has anyone else experienced this?

That's why my coop and run have shavings and plant material, cleaned out about three times each year, instead. Forty-odd birds, and no way am I scooping poo daily! Mary

Thanks everyone for your comments, I was thinking of doing sand. Might stick to shavings for now.
