Can you clip a goose nails? My ganders back talon nail is getting caught on things and I'm worried it will tear off. Thanks!

Yes you can clip their wings but use a good aharp clipper i clipped one of my embden ganders toe nail before because it was very long and longer then his other toes and it did the job :) when you clip the toes they may bleed a bit but thats normal hope it helped .

NONONO!

If they bleed, you've clipped them too short - just like with your own nails.

Nails don't bleed if clipped. Toes do bleed if clipped.

If your goose has light (and reasonably clean) nails, you should be able to see the tiny blood supply inside the nail. Don't clip through that.

No the vet said this to me as advice the geese wont feel anything all you have to make sure is that the nail is not long and if it bleeds thats no problem because some blood supply in geese feet is longer or shorter then others and the longer blood suppy is the one that usually bleeds

Well, the vet who made the diagram in my previous post obviously doesn't agree with your vet.

Neither do I. When you can clip the nails without shedding blood, I don't see the need for the bloody version. Why risk infection?

And although I suppose the procedure will not cause insufferable pain, I seriously doubt that they won't feel anything.

ok haha thats your vets suggestion but theres no problem either way you do it !
They wouldent catch an infection only if you cut the toe nail way too far :/
