Why?I will never and have never clipped a birds wing/s like that! IMHO it is cruelty! There is no need or reason to clip wings in that fashion, and clipping both wings does nothing to stop them from going over a fence..

Feathers have no feeling.

I have clipped some wings especially some Leghorns who can fly. The wing feathers will grow back then I may have to do it again. It doesn't hurt the birds the feather shafts are like clipping fingernails. I agree you only have to clip one wing.I will never and have never clipped a birds wing/s like that! IMHO it is cruelty! Funny you say that, Jersey Giant's are supposed to be easy to confine in a short fence cause they are heavy and don't get out. Lol.I had a Jersey Giant that would go over a 6' fence to eat tomatoes in the garden.

That is not proper way to clip wings. But the skin does, and cutting the feathers to short can and will damage the feathers on the body, then the skin is cut into, not good!
