Sarah I'm in a County with one to highest rates of unemployment in GA....and that's with a lot of folks not even registered. I really am not good at predicting the future.....That's in God's abilities. I just know that we cannot keep spending money as a nation or as individuals like we are or we'll be wheeling barrels of it in to the grocery store for one loaf of bread....
I was in a foreign country once where 8,000 dollars was one of our dollars,,,it drove my little pea brain crazy to figure it out.
I admit when I had started a full time job many long years ago, I played with a credit card and even at low interest it took me 4 years to pay it off. Now I wonder if what little money I've saved after so many years will even see me through....
I'm pleased to be a full time farmer....Lord willing, I shall not starve if I can afford seed, utilities, gasoline and feed and we don't have extremes in weather.
I've seen tough times, but not as tough as now. I'm preparing for the worst, we both are on the farm, but if money becomes crazy and worth less every year and taxes keep raising on land so much, it's just mind boggling.
All this said, I'm grateful to God for our farm, animals, ability to work the land and our wonderful customers, many of whom are right here on BYC. When I think of topics like this, I can become quite fidgety and worry until I'm reminded of the sparrow story in the Bible and my spirit is at ease.
I know I'll not be forgotten, but still I must be diligent about conserving in every form, keeping the land rich, building it constantly, not overusing it.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving y'all......
