The temp dropped after I put them in lockdown, how to I get it back up? I turned up the heating in my house and wrapped the incubator in a towel (except for the air vent), but it still hasn’t gone up much

What brand of incubator are you using ?

Most have buttons to adjust the temperature.

Whoops I posted my reply on the wrong thread.. nurture right 360, the temp has been super consistent other than this, any idea why?

I have never played with that model so someone else that knows more about it maybe able to help more, but the first thing to check is the temperature sensor (silver thing hanging down inside) sometimes it can be dirty, may have been accidentally knocked or just need moving into a different position.

The NR360 looks like it will have the same problem as most incubators with the top fan and top elements, that is that the air cannot pass trough the element holder bars which creates dead spots in airflow which in turn will create cold spots. If the temperature sensor is on the edge of one of the cold spots it can play havoc with readings effecting your temperature.

If it is not the sensor your may have to go through your incubator step by step to see if there is a problem with it. Do you have a backup incubator just encase ?

I don’t have a backup, and it’s my hydrometer/thermometer that is saying the temp is off, The incubator says it’s the same, is something off with the thermometer? I did move it around when I locked down the eggs

Is your hydrometer/thermometer digital? If so don't trust it, the only way to check an incubators accuracy is with a mercury thermometer.

Is the silver temperature sensor is still in the path of moving air?

The temperature sensor in the incubator is enclosed in metal, is designed for the job that it is doing and is usually calibrated in some manor.

It is usually best to take a couple of days and graph your incubator with a mercury thermometer before you use it to make sure that the temperature is running true and to take note of areas that are hotter or colder than what it has been set to and by how much.

The reason for mercury thermometers is that they are closer to an egg, you are trying to keep something inside a shell at a constant temperate. Digital thermometers usually measure surface temperature in one way or another.

Personally I would trust the temperature sensor more than a digital thermometer.

I don't think it would help you much with this hatch since you are in lockdown at the moment but it is handy to have one around the house and can still be found pretty easily at aquarium shops and homewares stores if you happen to be going past one.
