Point is, you brought this up. Would just like to see proof of how Rupublicans are capitalizing.

BTW The cash for clunkers program worked. Just because some did not like the porgram doesn't make it a loser.

Would like you to provide proof of the failure of this program too.

I just don't see how so much spending is gonna get us out of debt? It didn't work for FDR, it wont work now. If you keep borrowing n spending ( esp. when its this much) you will have to pay the piper one day. Bad thing is, it wont be the folks in DC that have to foot the bill!

The dealers are claiming that they are not getting paid by the government. Some are trying to get out of the program.

I drive two different vehicles...one is a 1998 Nissan Pickup with over 200,000 miles on it, gets about 30 mpg in town and no major repairs. The other one is a 2003 Toyota Camry.... it gets 32 mpg on the highway...no major repairs.

I think, and hope and pray, the enough people are getting tired of all this big spending and heavy handed actions by the govt that they will go to the polls and vote for people that will stand up to this admin. I can't support a party that will push a bill like HR 3200 through the house so fast no one reads it. Or a party that pushes this bill, but exempts themselves. And no, I don't really keep up with the polls so I don't know the numbers. I do know that something aint right when the leaders of a party call people "unamerican" and "fake" for standing up and voiceing their opinions. Did Nancy, Harry, Barney, and The Hon. Senator Boxer say that when all those folks protested the war? They said they were what america was all about. I never said clunkers didn't work, I just said it was a bad idea. But like I said, how "fake" of me.

It did work for FDR. Quit listening to the idiots that keep trying to rewrite history. The programs that FDR instituted reversed the depression. Hitler and Japan brought us the rest of the way out.

I forgot, I'm part of that "mob right wing conspiracy"

The dealers are claiming that they are not getting paid by the government. Some are trying to get out of the program.

More disinformation, since dealers were never required to be in this program in the first place. It is completely optional, and they can stop writing clunkers contracts any time they want.

However:
It is true that the government is way behind in paying dealers. Sadly, the government didn't think this program through very well, and did not have staff in place to process forms and payments in a timely manner. To the government, paying you now or paying you in six months is the same thing. To people who live in the real world and have to pay interest on their business loans, it is certainly not the same thing.

Unless it has been changed in the past few days,ALL vehicles turned in for Cash for Clunkers muxst be compacted.
NO salvagable parts are to be sold.
A friend of mine went to the salvage lot looking for a starter for his 1989 pick up truck there were a few in the yard, he needed only the starter and the owner told him he wasnt allowed to sell any parts off the vehicles that came in they were to ALL be processed.

I keep seeing this argument, over and over. You are incorrect.

Only the engine must be destroyed. Your friend probably could not buy a started off a clunker that was on the dealer's lot because the dealer had already, very likely, contracted to sell all of the clunkers to a salvage firm. If you were a salvage firm and bought 20 "clunkers" with detroyed engines, you'd be expecting the starters and such to still be there. You'd be unhappy if the cars were already stripped of useful parts.

Here is the recommended process for disabling a CARS program vehicle. There isn't a
duc.gif
thing in here about crushing the car:

Engine Disablement Procedures for the CARS Program
THIS PROCEDURE IS NOT TO BE USED BY THE VEHICLE OWNER

Perform the following procedure to disable the vehicle engine.

1. Obtain solution of 40% sodium silicate/60% water. (The Sodium Silicate
(SiO2/Na2O) must have a weight ratio of 3.0 or greater.)
2. Drain engine oil for environmentally appropriate disposal.
3. Install the oil drain plug.
4. Since the procedure is intended to render the engine inoperative, drive or move the
vehicle to the desired area for disablement.
5. Pour enough solution in the engine through the oil fill for the oil pump to circulate
the solution throughout the engine. Start by adding 2 quarts of the solution, which
should be sufficient in most cases.
CAUTION: Wear goggles and gloves. Appropriate protective clothing should be
worn to prevent silicate solution from coming into contact with the skin.
6. Replace the oil fill cap.
7. Start the engine.
8. Run engine at approximately 2000 rpm (for safety reasons do not operate at high
rpm) until the engine stops. (Typically the engine will operate for 3 to 7 minutes. As
the solution starts to affect engine operation, the operator will have to apply more
throttle to keep the engine at 2000 rpm.)
9. Allow the engine to cool for at least 1 hour.
10. With the battery at full charge or with auxiliary power to provide the power of a fully
charged battery, attempt to start the engine.
11. If the engine will not operate at idle, the procedure is complete.
12. If the engine will operate at idle, repeat steps 7 through 11 until the engine will no
longer idle.
13. Attach a label to the engine that legibly states the following:

This engine is from a vehicle that is part of the Car Allowance Rebate System
(CARS). It has significant internal damage caused by operating the
engine with a sodium silicate solution (liquid glass) instead of oil.
