Cocci bloom

my chicks are a week old.
They are eating medicated chick starter.
Their poop is getting more runny and getting foamy. I’m pretty sure it is an increase in coccidiosis.
Is their anything extra I should do?
So far no pasty bottoms, but the diarrhea is getting pretty bad.

I wouldn't necessarily credit coccidiosis. I would have a fecal sample read and make sure the bedding is bone dry. I would also give some probiotics. I like Gro2Max but any will be helpful.
You can also buy some Corid if it does turn out to be a severe case of coccidiosis. If you use the Corid at the intensive dosing, eliminate the medicated feed or you could over dose.

They are eating Country Lane 18% chick starter.
I am assuming on the cocci. I’ll check into getting a fecal. I had them on paper towels but put them on shavings yesterday.
I noticed the poop when moving them to arrange their pen
I am guessing cocci based on past experience with finches, and pigeons.
They can’t be exposed to any other chicken problems. They are my first ones and in my guest room.

I doubt it is coccidiosis at this stage. The symptoms are runny, off color and often bloody feces. But I don't think foamy is on t list. Unless they had some tracked in from outside and the bedding was wet, I don't think they could contract it in a day on new shavings.

No, they didn’t get it in a day. I’m sorry for not explaining better.
They had been on paper towels and stool was getting consistently worse.
They were put on shavings last night.
I put them in a box with paper towels to clean their cage.
When any diarrhea is bad it can be foamy.
The color is off.
I will treat as if for cocci.

I wonder if now that they are on shavings if the medicated feed will be enough.
Although they had been on absorbent paper towels and cleaned daily, perhaps that wasn’t enough since chicks peck at everything. I hate to dose them unnecessarily.

Any signs of blood in their poop? That's usually the tell-tale sign of coccidiosis, but by then it could be too late the cocci are running rampant

I wasn’t keeping the brooder dry enough. Although I was covering poop with paper towels multiple times a day and changing it daily, it wasn’t enough.
Since on shavings and kept completely dry, the poops are improving. I never medicated just kept them on medicated feed. Only one still has diarrhea but it is improving too.
