Coccidiosis or ??

Thanks for the well wishes! He's definitely not looking forward to this.

I am dropping poi off at the vet's afterward.

Is it a manual extraction or under anesthesia? I've done both and actually preferred the manual extraction (literally pliers) but I'm also a baby about anesthesia! Either way, he'll be fine- the fear of the procedure is 10x worse than the actual procedure.

:flthat is just a resistant strain and it clears up in no time!!! You have gorgeous birds, by the way!

It will be under anesthesia. I have had manual extraction as well, but only on one wisdom tooth. I was a wimp to the tugging and especially THE SOUND, so gross, lol.

Same here. Several of them feel thin, but I have seen them eat.

Thank you. Chickens are like Pokemon for me, gotta catch 'em all. Hehe!

The sound is the WORST!

I'm a Pokemon chicken collector myself! It comes with more squabbling than just having one or two breeds but...They're just so pretty!!!:wee

Update: I am so upset. I dropped the poo by Yvette vet's office and called them back five hours later because I hadn't heard anything. The tech said the doc told her to let me know ny chicks were "full tho the brim with coccidia" and to continue Corid. I explained that I was still seeing blood, but a little less, and that they had been on Corid for three days now and that was why I was seeking the help of the vet. I asked if they might have a Corid-resistant strain and told her to ask him if I needed something stronger, perhaps a sulfa drug. She went away for a few minutes and came back to tell me that, no, I didn't need to give them something else and that the Corid would work eventually and they would need the full 10 days. There were no other parasites present. I spoke to the bird specialist today to confirm that was the correct course of treatment, and he said, "Yes, you have to stick with the Corid." I just want it to work faster and my babies to get better!

I am really sorry that they didn’t offer more help at the vets. So they have been on Corid a full 3 days? You could order the sulfa drug that I posted the link for in post 11, to have on hand, but it probably won’t get there for a couple of days or more. I would try to get as much Corid into them as possible in the meantime. I really hope your chicks start to improve.

I hope the Corid starts working soon.

I will absolutely order that antibiotic so I have it on hand. I am pushing the Corid really hard. It's in their food and water, and they are all getting drenched with concentrate daily. I'm on my way home from work now and hope the Sebright's crop is improved. I'm also nursing my adult Cinnamon Queen for hardware disease and EYP. Ugg, when it rains, it pours!

How do you know?
I took her to the vet with a swollen belly, and they found this.:
