Cochin Bantams and Frizzle Cochin Bantams!!

Pics
Hey Ivy,

I think what Craig was asking is that Mille Fleur is not a "recognized" color for cochins as far as APA/ABA standards. In the large poultry shows a color that has not been officially recognized can be shown AOV (any other variety) and can win in that category but cannot be considered for any further Breed , Featherleg or Show categories, so he was asking if the 4H show rules were different, which they must be as you not only have a lovely hen but pretty KSTATE purple ribbons to boot

. There is another big show in Sedalia later this fall that if you can get yourself to the KC area we could ride together but it was amazing what i learned there--especially the AI lessons that Craig assured me i could do -even though i was skeptical.

I didn't realize that the Mille Fleur color wasn't recognized. I knew the calico wasn't. The judge was really young and I'm not so sure he knew what he was doing. I'm sure he did his best but I have found a few other things that he commented on that I went and double checked and it doesn't add up. I don't know what to think about all of it. I guess I need to get one of the standard books so I can see what's going on but seems like they are around $50 and I really don't want to spend if I don't have to.

I would love to go to a good show. I read all this stuff but it's really hard to understand unless you actually see the birds. Let me know when the show gets closer and I will get some time off for it.

Washed a few birds for the State Fair show. My wife took pictures of them while they walked around the yard drying off. The smooth male behind her is the one she was bred to this year. Thought I would share. This picture shows the true White color of the birds unlike the one I posted a few weeks ago which looked "off white-yellow".

These guys are still young but I thought I would share some pics I took yesterday. They are 10 wks. old.

Any idea what color she would be?

There are two pics of the same rooster. Trying to show his little bit of dark tail feathers.

My two dark hens. One is not as dark at the other, maybe a blue when she grows up.
