I have a question. I have a mille Fluer D'uccle and two cochin bantams. My mille is 16 weeks old. Billy and Curly are 13 weeks old. Billy my orange cochin was mating with curly my black frizzle cochin. Is this to young? I have never witnessed my standard size Roo mate with his girls intel they lay or come close. My mille ( Chicken little) will not let billy mate with her and she's older. Do I have a aggressive cockerel or is this normal?

Among the many varieties I work on Columbian is the one I have worked on longest. Pictured is the hen and her chick which was the last one hatched here in 2014. I feel I may be turning the corner on pattern. Next picture is of the young birds primaries which is the way they are supposed to be black with a black shaft and leading edge of white.
Next is the secondaries. Good but not perfect. Secondaries should have about 70% black with a crisp line between white and black. No bleeding which is what I have been fighting. Last is the soon to be cushion area which actually has lacing on the tail coverts. Undercolor is pretty dark so may be a better breeder than show bird but progress does happen. Read the standards and breed towards them.

Lordy Craig, what cute hen and chick. Baby looks like a miniature of mama.

Is anyone going to the New England Poultry Congress next week-end in Springfield, MA? I will be going to watch and learn. I'm very excited and hoping to see some beautiful cochin bantams there.
