Cochin Color

Quote:
By "true" I meant the bird we already had that we know turned out to be a blue cochin.
This is here 3 months later:

The cochin in question is completely black compared to the one above who was light grey when she was that age.

The recent photo above looks to be a self blue or lavender as some folks call it. I have a self blue Cochin and a blue cochin. The self blue gene breeds true, but the blue gene can put out chicks that are blue, black, or splash, so your black one may have been sold as a blue because it may have the blue gene.
This a pic of my two types of blues when they were a little younger...Blue in the forefront and self blue in the back by the partridge.

The one above is not a self blue. It is not the correct shade of blue, and in addition to that, it has lacing, which a self blue would never have.

Oh sorry, I see it now...Just saw that it was light and didn't pay attention to lacing, forgot about that. So hers is just a light color of regular blue then? She's really pretty, I didn't know they came that light...My self doesn't have the lacing, she is just very pale, solid.

I had a silkie that looked black as a baby but it grew up to be a dark blue. So whomever you got the bird from probably knows what they are talking about. Unless they dont.
