Cochin ~ Genetics question

We have a Blue Cochin chick that hatched from a Splash hen and Red roo......but its showing signs of barring......there are no barred cochins in the family tree as far up as we can go from our flock. We have a Barred Rock Roo but he is left on free roam and has no contact with our hens.
